Volunteer firefighters are urged to complete a short survey that will inform an Auditor General report about support for fire and emergency services volunteers.
The audit will determine if the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) is effectively recruiting, preparing and supporting fire and emergency services volunteers.
The survey follows three lines of inquiry:
- Does DFES effectively recruit and retain fire and emergency services volunteers?
- Does DFES effectively train and equip fire and emergency services volunteers?
- Does DFES provide sufficient support to fire and emergency services volunteers?
Member for Moore Shane Love MLA is encouraging all volunteer fire fighters to complete the 10 minute survey.
“I suggest fire fighters take this opportunity to recount their views and on-the-ground experiences,” he said.
“The important role of volunteers in protecting the community should not be underestimated and I urge volunteers to share their opinions.”
The Office of the Auditor General is expected to table its report in the second quarter of 2015.
Mr Love said volunteers had to act quickly as the survey closes at 4pm on March 6.
